Staying open has become a daily practice for me and one I sometimes find challenging in the world where the sense of separation runs deep. I do not watch the news, read the paper or listen to the radio because of the way it makes me feel and fills my mind with fear. One reason I began blogging was to be a part of a community that shared positive and uplifting creative material, and I am glad to say I am not disappointed one bit by my decision.
What I have noticed is sporadic moments where I lose sight of my vision and more importantly, my inner light. This flame is always lit, humble and soft; never loud and hard. “It” is what enters a room before I do. I suppose some could call it energy, I call it light.
It is the glimmer of gold dust on a beautifully created mood board that helps businesses and creatives hone in on their main message.
It is a blog post that is so raw, so connective one cannot help but shed a tear and support the reader who is at the end of their rope.
It could be a wreath that gives you a breath of fresh air and inspires you to always witness the continuous nature of life.
You know the light I am speaking of? You’ve got it too.
We have heard spiritual guides such as Joseph Campbell and Paulo Coelho talk about finding purpose, passion and essentially, they also mean contacting that light within us.
I believe behind everyone’s heart is a light that shines so bright and once noticed we can see beyond what our ego mind “sees.” It is a an internal spark that reminds us of our essential nature beyond the construction of the ego mind. The journey in life is to access this light and shine it for someone else to take the next step to finding their light.
It is easy for me to dim my lights when I get tired and run out of steam. With a family to care for, I find myself stretched fairly thin some days. I do the best I can and make sure I find time to practice my practice, so I stay tethered to truth throughout the day. When I am open to my inner light, I am simply standing in the knowing that within me is a custom fit purpose for this world.
It is humble to accept this knowing and ignorant to think I don’t have anything to share. We all have boat loads of light to give, and we don’t need to be yogis to access it.
All we need to do is carry this light with integrity, walking it gently through our days and making our footprint amongst the earth kind and loving.
What are your thoughts on inner light? Do you know what yours is? If you don’t perhaps you might be interested in doing what I did? I sat down with a blank piece of paper and a pencil and wrote down ALL the things I love to do. Out of my list, I circled the activities I could imagine myself doing and then I walked away. Yep. I left it all and asked for more to be revealed to me.
You see, I don’t need to connect the dots myself, life has a way of doing that when my light is on. How can the light shine through if the window is closed?
The universe has to know we are serious! It has to hear the call so to speak.
So, if you are in a place where you are not sure of your inner light then ask yourself what you are good at, what you love and what you cannot see yourself not doing for the rest of your life. Then stay open and be aware of what and who enters your life. I think you may be amazed at the goodness that arrives.
We are all custom fit for this world and our mold can be as grand and vast as long as we remain open to it.
Thank you for being here.
