40 FACTS {About me}

What is the best way for us to feel connected to one another? Listen to ones story? Read a story or  in this case, a list about them? Either way, when we know more about someone we can connect better. So, I have compiled a list of things about me you may or may not know. My hope is that you get to know me, even the cloudy shades and the brighter lights. Making this was actually fun! All of the facts are true and some make me laugh so hard. Here we go….

Jocelyn Hefner

I have an obsession with soft blankets and white towels.

Anthropologie is my favorite store for candles so therefore my entire house smells like it.

I lived in London for 10 years and never got lost.

I once crashed a car into a road post in Ireland and never told anyone including the person who owned the car.

I love a wood burning fire so much I turn the air conditioning down to 70 in the summer and make a fire.

I read spiritual material every single morning-it is what keeps me connected throughout the day.

When I was a child I pretended I was 13 years old so I could buy a horse from a farmer. I never thought he would believe I was series if I told him I was actually 9 years old.

I am addicted to Nutella.

I was once invited by the Queen of England to the Christmas Reception at Buckingham Palace.

Walking 18 holes of golf with Bill Murray was one of the funniest experiences of my life.

I once offered a chocolate chip muffin to Prince Andrew out of kindness.

I am writing a book about my story.

Organization is my best human quality.

My favorite color is navy blue.

I don’t like the feeling of direct sun on my face.

There was a time when I cried every night in fear of not knowing who I was anymore.

I only drink half of whatever I am drinking.

I used to smoke when I was in college because I thought it was cool.

I remember all my dreams in vivid detail.

Mallorca is my favorite island.

I don’t wear hats because they bother my skin.

I love laundry and use folding clothes as a meditation.

Cleaning is one of my favorite things to do.

I practice my speeches out loud to my dogs when no one is at home.

I talk to myself in the car all the time.

I once walked on a golf course with kangaroos in Australia and was afraid they would take me out with their tails!

Making the bed is a morning priority.

Ironing sheets makes me happy.

I find fictional books painfully boring.

I love making lists like this because I can laugh at myself.

Some of the things just plain funny and sooooo not important. ( #9, 10, 11 & 18)

My deepest desire in my life is to add more love.

I want to know God.

I am not religious.

I practice loving those who have hurt me and I find this incredibly difficult at times.

I make it a practice to still my mind.

I find a deep connection through silence.

My child is the most precious gift I have ever received.

I hope my story will help others who have lost hope in ever finding their way back to their true selves.

I am what I am.

Would you ever make a list like this and share it with people? I am humbled and reminded that with every “fact” listed here I am actually none of these things. What I am is an expression of divine grace and so are you.

Thank you for being here,

Jocelyn

mel - Oh I loved this Jocelyn! Really, so nice to read little things about you. And my comment to you loving the laundry – keep having beautiful children. 10 loads of washing per week in this house – ha! I’m completely intrigued about how you got to meet the royal family? And Bill Murray? I look forward to reading your book, I hope I get a personalised autographed copy? Big hugs to you and I might join you… xx MReplyCancel

Jocelyn - Sweet Mel, thank you so much for your kind words. You will definitely get a signed copy of the book 🙂 I don’t know exactly what it is about the laundry but I do love it! I guess its the smell, satisfaction and production that makes it fun. I will email you about the rest…some of it is in the book and some isn’t. I am so excited to see your new restyled blog! I bet it will be fabulous! Big hugs to you! Jocelyn xxReplyCancel

Sarita @TheOrange Gift Bag - Loved loved loved this post Jocelyn! I was smiling all through while reading this. But now I am totally intrigued by your royal connections and how your dogs react to your speeches:-)

On another note, I hope you never have to cry in fear of anything or anyone in your life. Reading that part made me sad.ReplyCancel

    • March 2, 2015 - 2:35 pm

      Jocelyn - Hi Sarita,

Thank you so much! It is amazing how when we open up just a little bit more others get to know us so much better. The connection to the Royal family was through my ex husband who is a professional golfer and Prince Andrew was always at the golf tournaments so I go to meet him a few times and have a chat. The dogs listen to my speeches with great focus and Popcorn even turns his head from time to time in excitement. In regards to those days when I would cry….I only knew what I knew and today I know more…hopefully tomorrow I will know more and so on. You are right though, we were not born to cry. I adore you and I sincerely thank you for commenting…I now know you even better! Have a wonderful day and Happy Spring!!!! xoxoReplyCancel
