More than Pen and Paper Dreams

“Dreams have only one owner at a time. That’s why dreamers are lonely.” ~William Faulkner

When I saw the quote above a memory suddenly came to me from a long time ago. Ever since I can remember I have had many dreams and even more ideas. During my childhood years my parents and family supported my creative imagination and pure heart but as I got older the support drifted to judgment and criticism from someone close to me. I came to know myself as the girl who used to dream a lot but all the ideas and possible ventures got stuffed down until one day she began to see her creativity as something more than a thought flying in the wind like a leaf.

I often thought I was the only one who would come up with an idea one day, and then find myself dedicating my thoughts to something else the next day. Was I crazy? A few people thought I was and the sad part is I believed them. That was then and this is now.  Today I have come to see my ability to dream is a sincere gift and something we all have access to if we choose to locate it. The more quiet my inner life became the more I heard, the more I was able to give up what I thought was my path and the more I began to witness the beauty of life-creation from within.

Have you ever sat down with a piece of paper and a pen and just allowed your ideas to flow? It is amazing what can happen when no one is watching, we don’t have to feel reserved and we can just let the flow of our own unique spirit guide us in ways we never expected. Last October I was at Hollyhock doing some work with my mentor, Moe, and we did a little exercise I would like to share with you today. Sit in a quiet room, with a person you feel supports your life design or you can be alone too. On a blank piece of paper, draw a circle and begin writing all the ideas, business ventures and dreams you have had and at the end of the circle what will be revealed will for sure bring a sense of peace to you if you are open to it. When I did the exercise I was in a state of confusion about my life because I thought I was crazy for having so many ideas. I mean, I had three blogs in ONE year! Moe reminded me, “honey, when we grow we outgrow.” Those words have never left my heart and help me every single day. I noticed on the paper every stage of my journey literally led me to the next and even though they were in the material world, they reflected the nature of my inner interior. I was growing at lighting speed on the inside so naturally the outer expression of my life was going to look different.

When I looked at my circle on the paper I was instantly freed up from my thoughts and beliefs about being a dreamer. I was not only a dreamer, but also a developer of ideas that could possibly help another person. What do you do with your ideas when you don’t end up using them? Would you ever consider sharing them others? I do, and after all, they were not “my” ideas to begin with, they belong to this miraculous universe we live in and one idea can truly change the course of our world.

So, what will you do with your dreams or your ideas for future businesses?

Please always remember this: anyone who doubts your ability to accomplish your dreams is not someone worthy of being in your life and taking part of the creativity that evolves from within you. I am truly blessed to have found someone who supports me with every idea, even if they change every 20 minutes.

My dream for today is to keep dreaming, evolving and moving towards a fulfilling life.

There is no time like the present to keep dreaming,

mel - I’ve always been a dreamer but it’s true that the older I get, the less I dream and think of the practical stuff. I will try that exercise, thank you! M xxReplyCancel
