The Voice of a Vignette : Elodie of Madame Love Blog

Happy Friday, friends! I am writing you today from Copenhagen where the sun is shining bright. It is my pleasure to bring you another vignette from one of my favorite bloggers, Elodie Love of Madame Love. You may know Elodie for her beautiful floral creations but her talent does not stop there. To me, Elodie is kind, genuine and one of the sweetest women I have ever met. She is always willing to help anyone and share her knowledge whether it pertains to blogging or flowers. I invite you to check out her blog and if you are looking to follow something bright and cheerful on Instagram then you will want to add her to your feed. Enjoy Elodie’s vignette….

Hello everyone!

I have created this vignette on the new hifi cabinet in my living room. I painted it black a couple of weeks ago, and had in mind at the time that it could be a beautiful basis to create some meaningful and pretty vignettes. I use a lot of dark and muted tones when I decorate and one of the walls in the my living room is painted in dark gray, which creates a lovely backdrop for art and makes the paintings, photos and illustrations really stand out.
Of course, I couldn’t create a vignette without having some flowers as the focal point! I am crazy about flowers, and to celebrate the lovely month of May, I chose some lilly of the valley (they are called Maiglöckchen in German: little bells of May). I found them at my local market called the Isemarkt, where I like to go with Jocelyn when she is in Hamburg.
I put the bouquet on some antique books, by Victor Hugo, that I have always had with me since I moved out from my parents’ place. They remind me of my first tiny flat in Paris when I started studying. I put them on the fireplace.
The porcelain rabbit is one of my favourite decoration items. I have had it for years, and don’t get tired of it. I love to put it at the bottom of my black lamp, as if it were part of it.
I love the white of the rabbit and the white of the flowers, contrasting with the wall and the top of the cabinet.
The porcelain pear is a birthday present from my husband and I love it. I received it two years ago, and I also have a bigger version in white, which is now in my daughter’s bedroom.

I love displaying things under bell jars. It always reminds me of a cabinet of curiosities and makes things more special and interesting to look at. I also love playing with transparancy and the fact that the vignette will look very different according to the perspective. The rabbit will have a completely different shape if you look at it through the bell jar.

Thank you so much Jocelyn for having the brilliant idea of the voice of a vignette and making me say a little bit about why I styled those things together the way I did.

Have a lovely day!
Elodie

un23 ilaria - How beautiful these vignettes are! It is such a pity you’ve stopped inviting fellow bloggers to do them. Each and every one of them is a moment of rest in our hectic days. Have a lovely evening Jocelyn!

Jocelyn - Hello Ilaria, thank you for stopping by. I do miss these vignettes and at the same time I am grateful to have moved forward with another idea I feel will help inspire others. I tend to embrace the moment and allow it to take me where it wants knowing all is well and good. Don’t fret though, there is a new and exciting series I am working on that will knock your socks off (I hope)! I trust you are well and I love to see all the beautiful vignettes you create on IG! xxReplyCancel
