Hello everyone and welcome to another inspiring vignette! This beauty is coming to us from Sarita, the editor over at The Orange Gift Bag. Sarita and I meet at the Hive Blogging Conference back in May and have stayed in touch ever since. I have no doubt her inspiration will lead you right to your heart. I am grateful to have such wonderful guests on this fun little series of mine. It truly is a gift to step inside a vignette where the real meaning takes place. Enjoy this Copenhagen wish a splash of Bombay flavor creation by Sarita!
Wishing you all a pleasant day with many moments of pure joy,
Thank you Jocelyn for inspiring me to create this vignette and giving me the opportunity to share it on The Inner Interior.
I created this vignette in a part of my window sill (old apartments in Copenhagen have lovely, large window sills!). I love this cozy nook and I use it as a space to drum up beautiful things for my home and my blog, The Orange Gift Bag. What you see in this vignette is a few of my favourite things that create a space that’s artistic, soothing and inspiring to me.
The canary yellow painting is one I made of my hometown, Bombay in India. I’m always finding ways to fuse my Indian aesthetic with my newfound love for Danish design. I liked the juxtaposition of the bright colours in the painting against the pure Scandinavian blue of the lantern; in a way it’s symbolic of my Indian roots and my current life in Denmark.
The blue log with the birds is a keepsake from my travels with my husband; a plain log of wood that I painted with a pair of lovebirds, reminding us of the good times we’ve shared. What you see in the backdrop is a painting inspired by Roy Lichtenstein’s art, made and gifted to me by my best friend. I love how the girl looks like she’s straight out of a superhero movie!
In addition to everyday art, I like being surrounded by inspiring quotes and words. If I come across a quote I like, I write it down on a piece of paper and put it up. What I choose is often revealing of how I’m feeling at the moment. And finally, I chanced upon these lovely flowers in the garden outside my apartment and loved the idea of bringing a little bit of the beautiful outdoors to my indoor space.
Finding inspiration in the things around me, being grateful for what I have and hope for the future is what my vignette is about – it’s a tiny moment in the story of my life.
