Hello everyone and happy Wednesday! Last month I began a monthly challenge to help myself and those who wish to participate, implement a practice into everyday life. Last month was exercising the “pause”. This month I would like to practice something I believe to be incredibly important and valuable when used properly.
For the next few weeks, I will be aware of the way I treat myself. When it comes to positive self-talk I am not usually the best, I would almost say it is one of my weaknesses. It is a little embarrassing to tell you this, but there are sometimes when I call myself an idiot for missing a turn, or forgetting an envelope that needs to go in the mail. Talking down to myself happens so fast, and before I know it, I have hung myself out to dry. I will say, I am much better than I used to be, so that is the good part.
Because I am human, I have some dense areas within my inner interior that need a little exfoliating and negative self-talk is one of them. The next time I make a “mis-take” I will remind myself that it is okay and gently guide myself back to breathing and centering into the moment.
This practice is not easy, and I don’t know anyone who has ever mastered this completely. If you care to join, then please feel free and use the hashtag #innerinteriorchallenge on your social media with a little note to share your experience.
As Moe would say, everything begins and ends with awareness!
Let’s dedicate July to being more gentle with ourselves and remind our children and friends to do the same, shall we?
